Shakira Biography
Shakira was born in Barranquilla (Colombia) on February 2, 1977. At 5 years and showed his inclination towards music and dance with great ease playing the traditional dances of their ancestors Arabs.
Between ten and thirteen, Shakira became a local star invited to numerous events in Barranquilla and the region. At that time he met Monica Ariza, producing theatrical career Shakira encouraged nationwide. She also was responsible for making contact with Sony Colombia executives to let them know the work of the girl who revolutionized the Colombian song.
However, in a first audition, the producers of Sony did not find great interest in the work of Shakira but some time later, in a performance that witnessed and following the remarkable success he was asked to record three albums.
Thus in 1991 he debuted with his album “Magic” that included songs from his own creation and that it sold less than one hundred thousand copies, considering it a commercial failure for Sony as their second album “Risk”, which was not an event sales.
Because of these two bad shots early, Shakira decided to take some time to rethink his career and finish high school.
In 1995, Shakira is back with a third album “Pies Descalzos” that included the songs “I’m here”, “White Dream” and “Where are you Love?” Which quickly became best sellers amazing exceeding 4 million copies and making it an undisputed icon of pop culture in Latin America?
In 1998 appears “Where are the thieves?” Shakira definitely enshrined as a star of Latin music worldwide. Sweeps all sales records with more than 7 million copies sold attracting the attention of the demanding markets of France, Switzerland, Canada and the United States.
From the year 2000 starts on tour, first in Latin America, from Panama to Argentina and obtained her first MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARD. The following year, in collaboration with Gloria Estefan, recorded English versions of his album “Where are the thieves?” and new songs especially created for this album to be called “Laundry Service”, which opened the door release the Anglo market and the world by beating the thirteen million albums sold and taking it to occupy the top positions on major international charts.

MONTE CARLO, Aug 26 (Reuters) - Lionel Messi scored one goal and created another as Champions League winners Barcelona lifted the European Super Cup on Friday after a 2-0 victory over Porto who finished with nine men.
An awful back pass by Colombia midfielder Fredy Guarin was intercepted by Messi and the Argentine slotted the ball in after sidestepping keeper Helton on 39 minutes.
Europa League winners Porto fell further behind when Messi chipped a pass for substitute Cesc Fabregas to control the ball with his chest and fire in with two minutes left.
Rolando was sent off after 86 minutes before Porto team mate Guarin received another red card four minutes later.

As she did in her second-round match, No. 11 seed Jelena Jankovic stepped onto the court for her third-round match against No. 17 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova with a game plan.
But unlike in her routine win Thursday, Jankovic’s poor execution Saturday rendered that plan irrelevant. She lost in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
Showing none of the form that took her to the final in Cincinnati two weeks ago, Jankovic had trouble keeping the ball in the court on even the most routine shots against the normally more erratic Pavlyuchenkova. Jankovic, the 2008 U.S. Open runner-up, sprayed 35 unforced errors to only 13 winners. More than half (35 of 65) of the points Pavlyuchenkova won were off Jankovic’s unforced errors.
On match point, Pavlyuchenkova hit a first serve that registered at only 71 miles per hour. Jankovic promptly shanked her forehand return wide of the doubles alley. The pair, who have played doubles together several times earlier this year, greeted each other warmly at the net.
